Jewelry: Intro to Metalsmithing

Summary

This 6-week level 1 beginning course introduces you to the world of metalsmithing. Students will begin learning and using skills for basic tool usage; light torchwork (annealing), hammering (texturing), piercing (sawing), shaping, coloring with patinas, Roller Mill texturing, and more. We will experiment with different metals such as copper, brass, and titanium. This class will provide the student with a strong foundation to continue studying metalsmithing if they choose to or just enjoy the projects we do in class and go on no further. This class is designed for beginning students and students who have some experience yet want to fine tune their skills. No previous skills are needed.  Any level is accepted.  This is a beginners class and instruction and projects will be geared toward beginner skills and exploration.
