Pottery: Beginning Hand Bldg

During this course you will learn the fundamentals of hand building with clay, you will complete a different project based on a new technique. No prior experience required! Each class you will complete a different project based on a new technique.  Class one will cover pinch pots, including a unique technique for larger scale and sectioned serving dishes. In class two you will learn how the most ancient pots were made using coils, and class three and four will cover slab building using molds and templates. During the course you will learn about the properties of clay and techniques for joining, refining, and surface patterning. In week five, learn to glaze and fire your work so that it is colorful and food safe. Cost includes one bag of clay, use of classroom glazes and kiln firing. Tools are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if preferred.
