Beekeeping Workshop

Summary
This one-day workshop is designed to inform prospective beekeepers about the honey bee industry and prepare prospective bee students for the intensive Backyard Beekeeping 15-week course, beginning in March. Prior knowledge about honey bees is not required! Topics will include: the importance of honey bees to the environment, varieties of honey bees, and ordering your honey bees for the 2026 season. There will be discussions about hive equipment, vendors, bee safety, protective clothing, and focus on some basic NC state beekeeping guidelines.
